Oxfom Novib

opent in een nieuw venster Oxfam Novib is fighting for a just world without poverty. Together with people, organisations, businesses and governments. Through projects and lobby. Locally and internationally.

HIRDA has been a partner with Oxfam NOVIB since 1999 and working together in social service sector such as basic formal and non-formal education and health in Somalia. So, Oxfam NOVIB was providing financial assistance and HIRDA was implementing the social service projects with the help of the local community. Before 2005 activities funded by Oxfam NOVIB were yearly basis but after the organization’s projects were evaluated externally and the organization’s capacity improved the project time-frame was extended to three year basis.

SRF and HIRDA

HIRDA and SRF started co-operation in 2002 where HIRDA is responsible implementations of all projects funded by SRF. In Abud-wak, HIRDA implemented water project funded by SRF. SRF continued the expansion, continuation and maintenance of the water supply. The SRF and HIRDA are working on the following areas:
- Water supply
- Primary education
- Relief and emergency activities 
- Fund raising and community mobilizationHIRDA has implemented recently relief operation funded by SRF. The relief operation was aimed at the people hit by drought and the flooding in Southern Somalia. HIRDA is also currently constructing a health clinic funded by SRF. The project would have been completed in 2006 but for security reasons was delayed. 

NCDO

opent in een nieuw venster NCDO involves people in the Netherlands in international cooperation and supports them with information, subsidies and advice. The millennium goals provide the point of reference for all these activities. In the year 2000, 189 countries agreed on these goals in order to reduce worldwide poverty before 2015.

Hivos

A fair, free and sustainable world – that is what opent in een nieuw venster Hivos, the Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation, wants to contribute to. Together with local organisations in developing countries, Hivos strives for a world in which all citizens – both men and women – have equal access to resources and opportunities for development.
HIVOS (Humanitarian institute for Development co-operation) is a Dutch non-governmental organization whose objective is to help achieve a democratic, pluralistic world in which all people – men and women alike – have equal rights and equal opportunities to take part in decision making processes that determine their lives.
HIRDA and HIVOS works on awareness programmes about HIV/AIDS in Somalia. HIRDA has recently carried out HIV/AIDS training project in Bardere Somalia. (Annex -3 alternative professions) 

Unicef Somalia

opent in een nieuw venster UNICEF Somalia is focusing on accelerating young child survival, support women, provide healthcare and nutrition interventions, distribute ready-to-use foods, provide water, sanitation and hygiene services and support protection of children and women.

HIRDA has closed a partnership co-operation with UNICEF Somalia in 2003. We co-operate on Management of PFE Mentors, NFE Mentors and CEC mobilizers in Gedo region. The mobilizers and mentors supply and distribute school kits through out the region under the supervision of HIRDA. The programme is to assist: Increasing access, quality and sustainability of formal primary education in Gedo region through systematic community capacity involvement.
Empowering parents and communities in the area through oversight of the management of education improves the community’s awareness towards education.

Upgrading the skills of teachers, head teachers and supervisors, In order to promote synergy by combining/complementing efforts, mobilizers and mentors will work in the same schools supporting and strengthening teacher/CEC work. UNICEF also assists the local community in school rehabilitation programmes. HIRDA has implemented in 2006 a construction of classrooms in Sarinley village near by Bardere  

ARAHA

opent in een nieuw venster ARAHA’s, mission is to improve the over all economic and social well being of east African immigrants in Minnesota, as well as to help the needy people in the Horn of Africa.

ARAHA (American Relief Agency for Horn of Africa provides financial assistance to Horn of African countries (Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda. ARAHA assistances include: Distribution of alms, relief activities and small-scale development projects.

The distributions of alms consist of the following activities:
- Distribution of Zakat Al-fitr. At the end of Ramadan Muslims give alms quite generously to the poor. This called Zakat al-fitr it is a wide-spread form of charity among Muslim communities.
- Distribution of meat in Al-Adha Eid: Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice is the most important feast of the Muslim calendar. It concludes the Pilgrimage to Mecca. Eid al-Adha lasts for three days and commemorates Ibraham's (Abraham) willingness to obey God by sacrificing his son. During this period Muslims slaughter animals to be sacrificed and distribute to the poor. ARAHA collects alms mentioned in 1-2 and sends to the organisations working in horn of Africa so as they distribute to the poor families in their community.
- Relief assistance: Relief assistance includes:
a) Food Distribution
b) Shelter For Family
c) Sponsorship of orphans: ARAHA provides assistance to orphan children including school fees, uniforms and school materials.

ARAHA provides food and shelter to people affected by disasters whether man made or natural.
