Hirda participated Africa dag 2009

HIRDA has participated Africa day at 25 April 2009 which was held in the Hague high school in the Netherlands. Evert Vermeer stichting organises once a year Africa day in the month April to get attention for the continent. This day means a lot for the whole continent, because people were given a lot information about development in Africa.

This year the day started with a speech from minister Koenders ‘’ we have to take action now by working together and to make progress by doing so’’ with this message marked the start of Africa day.
The Hague high school was full with people trying to find their workshop to get a spot.
Only half of the day has past yet and it was time for a keynote speech from Paul Rusesabagina where the film Hotel Rwanda is based on. The man who experienced so many things in his live but still travels all over the world to inform everyone about the development of Rwanda. The man who saved human lives with his own hands. The man who touched the harts of many people with his wise words and live story’s on Africa day.

In the second half of the day there were allot of workshops to choose from but one thing was for sure Angélique Kidjo would perform at 3:45 PM. The Beninese singer-songwriter and poverty-activist that is noted for her diverse music influences and creative music videos.
At the end of the day Africa day 2009 was declared a success with over 2000 visitors
