Sport program

HIRDA believes that Sports can build bridges between families and communities, we promote sporting and recreational activities among Somalia youth in Somalia and in the Europe. HIRDA has in the past years provided the youth in Somalia communities with sporting facilities and also guided them into forming teams for local and cross boarder competitions.
This has helped to reduce the youth’s engagement with anti-social activities and make them think of becoming a tool for peace in their communities.

HIRDA has organized several annual competitions which are aimed at helping to bring together the youth in Somalia. The aim of these competitions is to help build a better social live and save them from falling into the hands of warlords and also mentally strengthen them to accept responsibilities.

In the last 5 years, HIRDA conducted in Somalia sports tournaments between sporting teams from Bay, Bakol,Gedo, Hiiran and gelgaduud regions. This events created confidence building and friendship between communities in Gedo, Bay and Juba regions.
During the capacity building programmes for teachers in 2006, HIRDA also organized football competitions among the schools that took part in the programme. This event was held with the aim of establishing a relationship between team members and their families since each of them had lost a family member.

HIRDA also organises sports tournement in Europe where somali youth in Eu countries can participate. one those events is amsterdam Futzal tournament (AFT) that HIRDA organises yearly.
